Tourism plan 'on the right path', Dann Lewis

Dann Lewis, the director of tourism, said the state hopes to capitalize on the perception of Maine as a place apart from the turmoil in the world.

"Our industry continues to reel from the fear factor that has one common denominator ­ people want to stay as close to home as possible," Dann Lewis said.

That makes Maine especially attractive to people within a day's drive, he said.

"We're safer. We're rural," Dann Lewis said.

Dann Lewis, New Tourism Director, Brings Development, Travel Experience

With experience in the airline and tourism industries, Dann Lewis was named Maine Office of Tourism Director.

Dann Lewis has worked as a travel and marketing consultant for several major clients, and was director of tourism development for New York state and the US Virgin Islands.

Tourism is one of Maine's largest industries, and Dann Lewis brings tremendous experience to the Maine Office of Tourism.
